Open Letter to McGeorge Bar Takers

Posted by mcgeorgebarprep on July 15, 2013

I sent this message to students enrolled in last spring’s PPLW TWEN page, because I knew almost all of them would be sitting for the exam this month.  I know it did not reach everyone, however, so I wanted to share it here as well.

Dear Awesome McGeorge Bar Conquerors,

I just wanted to send out a note of encouragement as you wrap up your summer bar prep courses and get ready to hit the final stretch. You’ve got this!! No matter what, stay positive, keep practicing, and remember that you simply aren’t going to know everything there is to know, and that’s okay. You graduated from an ABA-accredited law school, you have been writing LOTS of practice exams (and if not then you are going to start today!), and you absolutely have what it takes to pass this exam.

Although it might be difficult to maintain perspective right now, remember that taking the bar really is a privilege and an opportunity that many people around the world do not have. And when all is said and done, it is just a test. It’s an important test, yes; but it is not life and death, and it does not determine your health or that of your loved ones – the things that really matter. Don’t build the bar up into something it isn’t. It is totally doable, so stay positive and do not allow self-defeating thoughts to take over. This is not a punishment; it’s your chance to show them what you’ve got! It all comes down to preparation, focus, and not letting anything shake your belief that YOU WILL PASS.

If you need a pep talk or to discuss anything else bar-related, I’m in NW Hall. You can also find advice and tips for the last weeks of prep on our blog and on the “McGeorge Bar Prep” Facebook page. Otherwise, just keep simulating practice exams and reviewing your answers and working hard – it’s almost over! I will be thinking of and rooting for every one of you this month.

ONE AND DONE!!

Sincerely,
Courtney Lee
