July 2009 Answers Now Available

Posted by mcgeorgebarprep on January 4, 2010

The California State Bar just uploaded the answers to the July 2009 California Bar Exam essays and PTs.  For all applicants, and especially those who were not successful on this administration of the exam, these answers are an invaluable tool to help determine what went wrong and how to improve.  Although these are unedited applicant answers that are not perfect, they are all passing papers that generally exemplify the issues and analyses the Graders wanted to see for each particular question.

To force yourself to methodically compare your answers to the sample answers, make a T-chart.  On one side, list each issue spotted and each fact used in the sample answers, and on the other side do the same for your own answers.  Try to get into the habit of comparing answers like this each time you write a practice essay or PT (and that should be often!).  You should then be able to see patterns that will allow you to work on correcting common mistakes or to focus more deeply on particular areas of law that give you trouble.
